Uzbek

Uzbek is a Turkic language and the official language of Uzbekistan. It has almost 24 million native speakers, and it is spoken by the Uzbeks in Uzbekistan and other parts of Central Asia. Uzbek belongs to the Qarluq family of Turkic languages, and therefore its lexicon and grammar are most closely linked to the Uyghur language. Other influences came from Persian, Arabic and Russian.

The best known dialects of Uzbek are the Afghan, the Ferghana, the Khorezm, the Chimkent-Turkestan and the Surkhandarya dialect.
