Tagalog

Tagalog, belonging to an Austronesian language family, is one of the major languages used in the Philippines. It is the primary language of public education and a basis for the Filipino language. As Filipino, it is, along with English, a co-official language and the sole national language. Tagalog is widely used as a lingua franca throughout the country, and in overseas Filipino communities.

There are about 22 million native speakers in the Philippines and another 70 million people worldwide who are using Tagalog.
