Igbo

Igbo (also Ibo) is a language spoken in Nigeria by around 20 million people, especially in the southeastern region. It is one of the four official languages of Nigeria and is a member of the Niger-Congo family languages. Some speakers also live in Equatorial Guinea.

The language is written in Roman script. There is also the Nsibidi alphabet which is used by the Ekpe society. Igbo is a tonal language, like Yoruba and Chinese. There are hundreds of different dialects and Igboid languages that the Igbo language comprises.
