Bassa

Bassa language is a Niger-Congo language. It is spoken by approximately 350,000 people in Liberia and 5,000 in Sierra Leone.

The language has its indigenous script called Vah which has been largely replaced by the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) in publications. However, the Vah script is still highly respected and is still in use by some older men, primarily for record keeping.
